HORRY COUNTY STUDENTS TO AGAIN RECEIVE HANDS-ON EXPERIENCE AT ONEFLIGHT MYRTLE BEACH CLASSIC
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (April 2, 2026) — The ONEflight Myrtle Beach Classic will again host a Horry County Schools (HCS) Day from 9:30 to 11 a.m. on April 13, where more than 250 high school students majoring in marketing, culinary services, hospitality and turf management will receive a hands-on, behind-the-scenes look at what’s involved in running a PGA TOUR event. The professional golf event will be contested May 7-10 at the Dunes Golf and Beach Club.
“This is a chance for us to make the classroom learning a tangible experience, giving our students that last bit of exposure they might need before they make choices about their career pathway after high school,” said Justin Gee, Work-Based Learning Specialist for HCS, who helped organize this year’s event. “It is always valuable to meet with people in your field of interest.”
While on site at the Dunes Club, the high school juniors and seniors (ages 16-18) from local schools will have three, 30-minute hands-on sessions where they’ll learn about preparing the grounds, event set up and various other job options within their anticipated career fields. Dennis Nicholl, director of golf, and Corbett Rourk, head chef, are among those who will share their insights.
“We’re thrilled to again welcome students to the Dunes Golf and Beach Club and provide them with a look into PGA TOUR operations and golf course management,” said Darren Nelson, ONEflight Myrtle Beach Classic tournament director. “It continues to be our goal as a community partner to inspire and educate the next generation of golf enthusiasts and professionals, showing them what it takes to orchestrate a successful event.”
