Volunteer Committees

Gallery Management
Responsible for managing gallery noise & traffic; ensuring the safety of our guests by reinforcing health & safety policies; leading by example; and providing a world-class guest experience. Volunteers are assigned to the teeing area, fairway, and green of a specific hole (1-18), or to high traffic areas.

  • Active Days: Wednesday – Sunday, 2 shifts available Wednesday through Friday, 1 shift available Saturday and Sunday (this shift will last approximately 4-6 hours and will be determined by your hole assignment and the professionals tee times. Committee Chairs will communicate your weekend schedule for the day closer to the event).
  • Shifts are outside in direct sunlight and the elements. Requires long periods of standing.
  • Typical Shift Length: ~6 hours

 

SEC (Safety, Evacuation, and Crosswalks)
Responsible for assisting in operating crosswalks, managing ropes, and managing crowd traffic throughout the course. While at these crosswalks, volunteers will continuously be on the lookout for any safety hazards and report them to volunteer leadership. In the event of inclement weather or an emergency, crosswalk volunteers will leave their crosswalk to transport players and caddies off the course to a safe location and then back after resumption of play. Must have a valid driver’s license and be 25 years or older.

  • 2 shifts available Monday through Sunday, 1 shift available Saturday and Sunday (this shift will last approximately 4-6 hours and will be determined by your hole assignment and the professionals tee times. Committee Chairs will communicate your weekend schedule for the day closer to the event).

Walking Scorers
Walking scorer volunteers are essential members of the competition team helping record and relay scores on a handheld device. This position will require successful completion of mandatory training on the days before the tournament. Walking scorers must be comfortable performing basic computer skills and be knowledgeable of golf etiquette/scoring and able to walk 18 holes of a golf course. The minimum age to be part of this committee is 18 years old. Must be available to work at least three days of official tournament rounds. Walking scorers should have the physical ability to easily keep pace with their group across all 18 holes without a break and in varying weather conditions. For reference, 18 holes will vary from 5-6 miles or roughly 10,000 steps. They should be comfortable using a handheld digital device to record each shot, as well as the voice radio with a headset that allows for constant communication. Shift is approximately 6 hours per day. Volunteers must be 18+ years old and must sign a Disclosure Form.

  • Active Days: Wednesday – Sunday, shift schedules vary and you must be able to commit to the full day. While you will not work the full day, schedules are not confirmed until closer to the event.
  • Shifts are outside in direct sunlight and the elements. Shifts require walking and may require long periods of standing.
  • Typical Shift Length: 6-8 hours

 

ShotLink Mobile Spotters
Under the leadership of the Scoring Tech, the ShotLink Mobile Spotters will help locate and flag shots that miss the fairway/green, assist with ball flight from the tee, and relay pertinent information to the Scoring Tech such as penalty situations, obstructed shots, and detailed from locations. Volunteers must be 18+ years old and must sign a Disclosure Form.

  • Active Days: Wednesday – Sunday, two shifts available Wednesday through Friday, 1 shift available Saturday and Sunday (this shift will last approximately 4-6 hours and will be determined by your hole assignment and the professionals tee times. Committee Chairs will communicate your schedule for the day closer to the event).
  • Shifts are outside in direct sunlight and the elements. Shifts may require long periods of standing.
  • Typical Shift Length: 6-8 hours

 

Honorary Observers
Honorary Observers volunteers will assist with the implementation and operation of VIP guests participating in the Honorary Observer Program. Responsibilities will include assisting with logistics, distributing hats, implementing guidelines, and escorting guests to #1 tee.

Standard Bearers
Accompany each group of players during tournament rounds and display their scores in relation to par on a cumulative basis on a standard (small scoreboard). PLEASE NOTE: Standard Bearer volunteers MUST turn 13 by May 5th and no older than 23 on May 5th. Standard Bearers must be able to carry the standard (weight approximately 5 to 7 pounds) for all 18 holes with their group and must understand basic stroke counting.

  • Active Days: Thursday – Sunday, one shift available each day-volunteers must sign up for at least 1 weekday and 1 weekend date.

Ambassadors – On Buses & On Course
Greet, interact, and provide assistance to spectators while loading, unloading, and in-transit to the tournament. Greet, interact, and provide tournament assistance to spectators requesting guidance when entering the course and around the course.

  • Active Days: Wednesday – Sunday, three shifts available each day

Hospitality – Hole 17
Manage sponsors and guests in hospitality venues by checking for proper credentials, greeting guests, and providing information as needed on Hole 17. Volunteers will also be asked to monitor venues to ensure they are kept in clean, working order. Volunteers will be stationed in groups at various hospitality venues on the course and need to be able to walk to and from the venue where they are stationed.

  • Active Days: Thursday – Sunday, two shifts available each day
  • Shifts are outside in direct sunlight and the elements. May require long periods of standing.
  • Typical Shift Length: 4-6 hours

 

Hospitality – Hole 18

Volunteers will also be asked to monitor venues to ensure they are kept in clean, working order. Volunteers will be stationed in groups at various hospitality venues on the course and need to be able to walk to and from the venue where they are stationed.

Product Distribution
Responsible for distribution of food and beverage to on-course locations including but not limited to tee box coolers, starter tents, and practice areas. Must have a valid driver’s license. This can be a strenuous activity and requires heavy lifting.

  • Shifts are outside in direct sunlight and the elements. Requires manual labor. May require long periods of standing.
  • Typical Shift Length: 4-6 hours

Admissions
Scan tickets using Ticketmaster equipment and assist with checking for proper credentials. Assist with on-site ticket sales and Clubhouse ticket check-in. Act as a welcoming team and provide customer service for mobile tickets. Greet and help direct spectators in various locations on and off course.

TV Support
Volunteers on this committee will have a range of responsibilities. Some members of this committee will be responsible for carrying and positioning microphones that will enable us to capture shot noise and conversation between the player and their caddie. Other members will be collecting data such as player stats, shot order, club selection, etc. And a few members could assist commentators around the golf course. While volunteering, most Committee members will be required to be on their feet and walk at a swift pace in potentially hot weather.

  • Active Days: Thursday – Sunday, shifts will be confirmed closer to the tournament as shifts are based upon the broadcast schedule.

Patriot’s Outpost
Greet military guests and check credentials at the entrance to the Patriots’
Outpost as well as assist with on-site military activities throughout the
week.

  • Active Days: Wednesday – Sunday, two shifts available each day.
  • Shifts are outside in direct sunlight and the elements.
  • Typical Shift Length: 4-6 hours

Pro-Am Services
Pro-Am volunteers will help support the Pro-Am Pairings Party and the Wednesday Pro-Am. Tasks include but not limited to: Pairings Party greeting, check-in, gifting, setup/tear down, Pro-Am greeting, assisting with bag drop, runners, assistance with lunch, etc.

  • Active Days: Tuesday and Wednesday. Accurate shift options will be displayed as the tournament gets closer.
  • Typical Shift Length: 4-6 hours

Merchandise
Assisting in the Merchandise Tents in various capacities. These opportunities include assisting vendors by stocking inventory, operating user-friendly cash registers, helping to bag purchases, and various other tasks.

  • Active Days: Wednedsay – Sunday, three shifts available each day
  • Volunteers will work under a tent. May require long periods of standing.
  • Typical Shift Length: 4-6 hours

Caddie Services
Welcome and register caddies for the tournament near the Caddie Dining area. If necessary, providing caddies with credentials. Volunteers are responsible for distributing, collecting, and washing caddie bibs and towels during tournament days. After caddie bibs are washed, volunteers will need to put bib names on and sort them according to daily tee times. They also serve as a resource providing information about local amenities, general information about the tournament, the surrounding area, and overall concierge for other caddies’ needs.

  • Active Days: Monday – Sunday, two shifts available each day
  • Typical Shift Length: 6-8 hours

Courtesy Car Distribution
Inventory and distribution of courtesy vehicles to PGA TOUR players and special guests before and after the tournament. This committee will spend most of their time at the Myrtle Beach International Airport to assist with vehicle delivery to the exit doors for players. After the tournament, volunteers will assist with inventory and collection of vehicles. Valid driver license required and must be 25 + years of age.

  • Active Days: This committee is active several days prior to tournament week, tournament week, and several days post-tournament
  • Typical Shift Length: 4-6 hours, shifts will be confirmed closer to the tournament

Media Center
Assist PGA TOUR Media Officials with registration and Media Center operations, welcoming local, national, and international journalists to promote the image of the Myrtle Beach Classic and providing the best possible experience to media personnel.

  • Active Days: Active Days: Monday – Sunday, three shifts available each day
  • Typical Shift Length: 4-6 hours

Player Services
Welcome and register players for the tournament near the Player Dining area. If necessary, providing them with credentials. This committee is among the first group to interact with the players upon arrival. They also serve as a resource providing information about local amenities, general information about the tournament, the surrounding area, and overall concierge for other player needs. Once registration is complete, volunteers will transition into greeting players, family, and guests.

Practice Areas
Provide gallery control of the practice areas and regulate access to and from all practice facilities for players, tournament officials and other properly credentialed guests. Assist players at the practice facility with all practice needs and supplies. Volunteer duties include keeping the chipping greens cleared of balls, removing empty bags from the driving range, and cleaning and sorting range balls.

  • Shifts are outside, volunteers will be on their feet for most of the shift
  • Typical Shift Length: 6-8 hours

Support Squad
The committee for someone who is up for anything and everything! This committee is special in that you will be helping to supplement all other committees. Volunteers will be placed with other committees that need more assistance to help the tournament be successful. Duties can range from gallery management, working in hospitality, or even helping out at volunteer headquarters. Volunteers will report to Volunteer Headquarters and be given their assignment for the day.

Volunteer Care Cart
Provide on-course mobile volunteer hospitality during the tournament. Help keep the Volunteer Care Cart stocked throughout the day while driving through different zones to offer lunch, snacks and refreshments. This committee requires lifting and manual activity.

  • Active Days: Wednesday – Sunday, two shifts available each day
  • Typical Shift Length: 4-6 hours

Volunteer Headquarters
Provide volunteer hospitality functions during the tournament. Help setup and manage a comfortable space for volunteers to check-in and relax. Set up and maintain food and beverage areas, including but not limited to restocking beverage area, taking vouchers for lunches, and boxing lunches. Assist with assembly for any on-course beverage and meal delivery. Help with uniform exchanges and additional uniform sales. Minimal walking or standing.

Shuttles
Provide cart transportation for ADA spectators, families with small children, volunteers or anyone in need throughout the course on a predetermined route. Volunteers must be 21+ years old and possess a valid Driver’s License.

Front/Back Courtesy Shuttle
Volunteers will drive vehicles through The Dunes neighborhood between the front 9 and back 9 holes. The shuttle will be available for anyone needing some extra assistance moving from the front and back of the course. Volunteers will drive vehicles on the street and must possess a valid driver’s license. Must be 25+ years of age.

Cart Control
Control inventory and distribution of the fleet of volunteer golf carts making sure they are charged every night and checked out by the properly authorized individual with keys returned pre-tournament, during, and post-tournament. Volunteers must be 21+ years old.

Myrtle Beach Classic

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, there is a fee to volunteer at the ONEflight Myrtle Beach Classic, but the fee covers the cost of the volunteer package which includes:

  • One (1) polo
  • One (1) outerwear piece
  • One (1) hat (visor, bucket or baseball style)
  • One (1) volunteer credential that can be used to gain entry into the tournament even when not volunteering
  • More information on the volunteer package and fees will be shared closer to the 2026 ONEflight Myrtle Beach Classic.

Unless otherwise posted on the Tournament website or communicated by Tournament staff, youth volunteers must be at least 13 years of age as of the start date of the Tournament. All other volunteers must be at least 18 years of age to be considered for a volunteer position. Some volunteer positions require 25 years of age.

Men may wear grey pants or grey shorts, Women may wear grey pants, skirts, capris or knee-length shorts. Closed-toe shoes are required. Sandals, flip-flops, open-toe shoes and traditional spikes are not permitted.

Your Committee Chair will provide you with information regarding where you should go in the case of inclement weather. Please do not presume that play is canceled if it rains ; report to your assigned duty. Please review the weather chart below for information regarding weather severity.

Electronic leaderboards throughout the golf course will display weather warnings using a color-coded alert scale. Spectators should take precautions upon observing any weather warnings and be ready to seek safe shelter if appropriate, which may include exiting the premises.

In the event of dangerous weather, please avoid hilltops/high places, golf carts, temporary structures, trees and wire fencing.

While there are no specific days that you are required to volunteer, we do require all volunteers to volunteer for a minimum of 18 hours. Committees may have shifts from May 5-10, this will be reflected during registration. Volunteers can indicate their desired schedule during registration as well.

PLEASE NOTE: the tournament dates are often in conflict with graduations, confirmations, weddings, and other events. The final day of the tournament, May 10th, is Mother’s Day. We ask that you please check your schedule before registering to make sure your availability you provide is as accurate as possible.
